Resources / Standards & portability

Preserve the source. Plan for portability.

CourseShelter’s archive model is intended to retain useful source detail while supporting standards-based exports where the underlying LMS data permits them. Standards alignment improves portability; it does not by itself imply formal certification.

Higher education: Edu-API

The 1EdTech Edu-API model is relevant to higher-education concepts such as organizations, academic sessions, courses, offerings, enrollments, and outcomes. CourseShelter can use those concepts when shaping a consistent archive and future export paths across source platforms.

K–12: OneRoster

OneRoster provides a useful vocabulary for schools, academic sessions, users, students, teachers, courses, classes, enrollments, line items, and results. It is particularly relevant when districts need retained data to remain understandable outside the source LMS.

Course content and assessments

Common Cartridge can support portable course-content packages, while QTI can support portable assessment items and tests. Exact export coverage depends on what the source LMS exposes and whether a destination system can faithfully represent the original material.

Activity data and honest claims

Caliper may provide a future path for standardized learning-activity and event data. CourseShelter describes its approach as a standards-aligned canonical model with standards-based export formats where practical; it will not claim conformance or certification without the applicable testing.
